Tagging Reminder »

Just a quick tagging reminder - anyone with photos, blog posts etc. coming from the day (when you get around to uploading them!) could you add the tag ‘creativecamp08′ to them and we’ll get them picked up in the flickr stream.

Starting to see some trickle through :)

CreativeCamp Comes To A Close »

CreativeCamp has just come to a close, the venue emptied, people heading off for food, drinks, a night out in Kilkenny or a trip back home.

A tremendous thanks to everyone who was there for the day, we hope it was an enjoyable experience for all!

Thanks also to the management and staff at The Parade Tower, Kilkenny County Council, the Irish Internet Association, Kilkenny County Enterprise Board, McGovern Wines, Blacknight, Waterford Institute of Technology, Creative Catering, those that helped out on the day, those who gave up their time to make presentations and share ideas and all of those in attendance for the day.

We’ll update the blog over the weekend with links to photos, videos, blog reports and more.

Until we meet again….

Live CreativeCamp Coverage »

We’ll have live coverage of CreativeCamp throughout the day.

More sources available as they become flagged.

Registration This Morning »

Registration for CreativeCamp takes place in the square room (Registration Room) located on the first floor (one floor up). Those of you registering early might get your hands on a sweet CreativeCamp badge as provided by Walter Higgins.

Yes folks, heckling is mandatory.

Parking Tomorrow »

There’s a few people wondering about the parking situation tomorrow. There is no car park for Kilkenny Castle and they sure don’t allow cars on the ground (as of yesterday) unless you’re dropping off or picking up deliveries.

The Ormonde Multistorey car park is located nearby. From the Castle, head for the traffic lights, turning left, followed by an immediate right onto Ormonde Street (the Hibernian Hotel is right on the corner). Anyone who was in Kilkenny for PodCamp will remember the Ormonde Hotel, the car park is half way up Ormonde Street on the right, giving you a max 2-minute walk from car to castle. Parking is from €1.80 an hour.

Also nearby (about a 2-3 minute walk) is Dunnes Stores car park. Again from the castle head for the traffic lights and turn right, when you get to the end of Rose Inn Street (Xtravision on the corner), turn left at the bridge and follow the road around to the entrance of the car park. Parking is from €1.20 an hour with the barriers going up around 6:30pm (free parking from 6pm).

If you’re in Kilkenny early there is limited parking available on Canal Square, directly opposite the aforementioned Xtravision by the bridge. There are a limited number of spaces available between the bridge and Dunnes car park. As you turn left at the bridge and down the hill towards the car park you’ll find seven spaces on the right and about the same on the left. These are public parking spaces and don’t need any parking discs.

Parking is available on the Castle Road for a maximum stay of 2 hours (as far as I remember) and it’s limited to the top of the castle road or the side opposite the castle. Parking along by the castle wall is reserved for bus and coach parking.

If you fancy a walk, there is parking available at the MacDonagh Shopping Centre at the top of John Street. From the traffic lights below the castle turn right onto Rose Inn Street, cross the bridge and proceed up John Street, turning right at the traffic lights at the top of the street and the next left into the car park. Parking here is priced from €1.80 per hour with the car park open until 10pm.

Limited parking is also available along John Street (left hand side of the road opposite Langton House Hotel) with spaces available until 8pm (becomes a taxi rank thereafter).

Talk Scheduling »

If you are speaking and care when your talk is scheduled then speak now. Or by lunchtime tomorrow.

The talk schedule will be done in the afternoon and I guess we will try and get it online somewhere afterwards- wait and see how the day is going.

Bleeding edge - be warned on wireless connectivity »

Due to a collapse in our Plan A - take and distribute a neighbouring DSL feed around the Parade Tower, we hastily cobbled together Plan B.

1. Use the 2M’ish guest network in the Tower for general access (ie people who are not speaking)

2. Use mobile broadband modems for speakers - speed tests today were good although that could deteriorate at the weekend. We currently have three that we  know of - if anyone who is coming can bring one that they are willing to share that would be appreciated.

3. In the case of the mobile broadband speeds tanking we will then use the wireless network for speakers and respectfully ask everyone else to stay off it.

Welcome your patience and assistance with this thanks - not ideal but just right now it is what we have.
